Hackettstown Animal Hospital is actively seeking a licensed or experienced veterinarian technician. The ideal candidate will join our team with confidence and experience in the veterinary field and be optimistic when working with the veterinary, technician and customer service staff. Be comfortable rooming patients, assisting in surgery, surgical recovery, have experience with proper animal handling and restraint. Have knowledge of x-ray and positioning, drawing blood and running bloodwork, able to use laboratory equipment, understands the importance of client education, is a positive and supportive team player, and strives to continue to increase their knowledge in the veterinary industry. The veterinary industry is constantly advancing and at Hackettstown Animal Hospital we support and encourage our staff to do the same. Qualifications 

  • Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant. 

  • Candidate must retain a strong skillset in the dental, surgical and anesthesia areas of the hospital.

  • Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of clinical procedures. 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 

  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred – or eligibility to obtain licensure based on state requirements. 

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures. 

  • Assist with dental, surgical and anesthesia monitoring and procedures.

  • Admit and discharge dental and surgery patients.

  • Safely handle and restrain animals; administer medications and vaccines. 

  • Collect lab samples and maintainaccurate patient records. 

  • Educate clients on pet care and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
