Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Production Supervisor in Hagerstown, MD in support of our North American Vehicles projects, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

Accountabilities
Core purpose: Â
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the production team to ensure that production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. This role will oversee staff, coordinate activities, and work to improve efficiency, output, and product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Main tasks & the responsibilities include but not limited to:
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, and support production team members to meet daily goals.
- Assign tasks, balance workloads, and ensure workstations are properly staffed.
- Lead daily morning meetings to review priorities, quality alerts, and safety reminders.
- Track attendance, enforce policies, and escalate issues when necessary.
Production Operations
- Ensure production schedules are followed, and output targets are achieved.
- Monitor workflow, remove bottlenecks, and coordinate resources to keep production moving.
- Work with Materials, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve issues quickly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production floor.
Quality & Documentation
- Ensure all work is completed using correct documentation and up to date revisions.
- Verify completion of production records, checklists, and quality documentation.
- Support Quality in resolving defects, rework, and non-conformances.
- Promote a culture focused on accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Safety
- Enforce all company safety policies, PPE usage, and safe working practices.
- Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards or incidents promptly.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions as needed.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide daily production updates including output, staffing, and issues.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and training.
- Communicate clearly with Production Management about delays, risks, or resource needs.
Required Skills/ Knowledge
- 5+ Electrical/ Mechanical experience in industrial, manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years in supervisory or lead electrician role preferred
- Strong people management and communication skills.
- Experience in leading teams and managing KPIs to ensure operational performance.
- Responsible for reporting and analyzing production efficiency levels.
- Skilled in identifying, addressing, and escalating issues on the production floor as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a willingness to work overtime when required.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and make decisions in real time.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other digital tools.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP/MES systems is a plus.
- Electrical experience or strong mechanical aptitude is considered a plus.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret Electrical schematic diagram
- General knowledge of all aspects of harness fabrication, including cutting, marking, stripping, and crimping
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- An associate degree and any additional technical training or certifications are considered a plus.

The salary range for this position is $76,560 to $114,840 per year.  Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
