As a Day Program Specialist / Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll play a vital role in empowering participants to reach their fullest potential-socially, physically, and emotionally-while ensuring their safety, dignity, and independence are always prioritized.

What You'll Do

  • Provide hands-on support with daily living activities, including hygiene, meals, and mobility
  • Implement individualized program plans and engage participants in enriching activities
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment
  • Support community outings and meaningful social experiences
  • Maintain accurate documentation using agency systems
  • Assist with safe transportation of participants using agency vehicles
  • Respond calmly and effectively to behavioral or emergency situations

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Medication Administration certifications
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfort using computers and basic software
  • A compassionate, patient, and reliable approach to care

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on role that includes:

  • Assisting with lifting, transferring, personal care/hygiene and mobility support
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Working in environments with varying noise levels and conditions
  • Attend community outings and events with indivduals
  • driving agency vehicles
  • Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols
