ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: 

The Team Leader Beverage Operations manages production activities within an assigned area(s), to safely produce products at an acceptable quality, cost, and service levels on a regular basis. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads production activities among operators, ensuring that standard and efficient processes are followed.
  • Responsible for training, scheduling, and monitoring work, providing communication, feedback, performance reviews, and ongoing support to line employees. 
  • Leads production activities in accordance with production schedules and established priorities, ensuring maximum utilization of assigned resources, equipment, personnel, and materials.
  • Ensures production variances associated with materials usage and line efficiency are maintained at established goals for the assigned shift.
  • Make independent adjustments to equipment to maintain the greatest operational efficiency.
  • Execute start-ups, shutdowns, periodic changeovers, and clean-up procedures; utilizing the (CIP) system that will include thorough documentation of all processes and procedures. 
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment as well as move materials as needed. 
  • Utilizes continuous improvement methodologies to create and modify standardized operating procedures while identifying any opportunities to improve. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of production components and the associated preventative maintenance programs.
  • Participate in team-driven activities to facilitate production improvements or new product development projects.
  • Understands and supports quality and food safety policies. Implement guidelines to assure adherence to quality documents and standards.
  • Manages the batch blending process to ensure they meet formulation specifications.
  • Operates and tends equipment to blend based on specific brix, acid ratios, and blend formulations; and appropriately records within the batch sheet.
  • Operates computer control panel, or manually opens valves, and initiates the flow of product through equipment into designated tanks.
  • Performs periodic tests to ensure product quality and adherence to formulation.
  • Oversee/assist with staging of ingredients before the start of a batch utilizing standard operating procedures blending processes.
  • Investigates and reports all incidents on the production line.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL/SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook experience 
  • Ability to meet production schedules or other deadlines with a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment 
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, co-workers, and all those involved with the production process.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and use good judgment
  • Must be able to multitask and adapt to change. 
  • Ensure team skills are sufficient to meet safety quality and production goals
  • Able to identify areas of improvement in complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills for themselves and others 
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and storing of goods.
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to Perform accurate weight measurements
  • English comprehension including speaking, reading, and writing is required for our business's necessity to ensure a safe and effective work environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Blending operator
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed production machinery and measurement tools.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement methodologies desired. 
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable on processing equipment (pumps, blending tank, hoses, agitator, valves)
  • Experience in Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical Industry is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May require the employee to frequently lift and/or carry with two hands up to fifty (50) pounds 
  • Required to stand and walk for an entire shift
  • Requires frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting
  • Requires frequent visual quality control observations which may include turning and bending of the head and neck area.
  • Requires frequent repetitive motion
  • Must be able to work in various indoor temperatures including elevated heat and humidity
  • Exposure to elevated noise levels which occurs below OSHA thresholds
  • Infrequent exposure to machine sanitation solutions and detergents
  • Exposure to various spices and food manufacturing smells throughout a work shift.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]
  • Required to follow Good Manufacturing Practices [GMPs]
  • May be required to work in noisy environments while using hearing protection
  • Exposure to food allergens such as, but not limited to, milk eggs, tree nuts, wheat, and soybeans will occur.
