Assistant Controller

Location: Hamilton, Indiana

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

In this role, you'll help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial information while supporting the Controller in driving operational and financial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger activities.
  • Assist in maintaining internal controls and established accounting procedures.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare weekly payroll for Controller review and approval.
  • Create journal entries and process accounting transactions.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with sales tax filings and other routine compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information and support business operations.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliations and inventory accounting.
  • Support cost accounting and manufacturing reporting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, or equivalent accounting experience.
  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or cost accounting is a plus; however, we are willing to train a motivated accounting professional who is eager to learn.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
