About the Role:
Advanced Underground Inc. is looking for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team in Hamilton, OH. Responsibilities:
- Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment safely and efficiently on job sites
- Read and interpret bore plans, utility maps, and site drawings to execute accurate directional bores
- Monitor drilling fluid (mud) systems and adjust parameters to maintain optimal boring conditions
- Coordinate with locating technicians to track drill head position and avoid utility conflicts
- Perform pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on drill rigs and related equipment
- Follow all OSHA safety standards, company protocols, and site-specific safety requirements
- Communicate effectively with crew members, foremen, and project supervisors throughout daily operations
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating directional drilling or HDD equipment in the field
- Knowledge of underground utility installation, boring techniques, and soil conditions
- Ability to read bore logs, utility plans, and site maps
- Familiarity with drilling fluid mixing and mud recycling systems
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work in varying outdoor conditions
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly on active job sites
