Job DetailsJob Location: Hammond, LA 70403ELOS Environmental, an Aventia Company (ELOS) is seeking a full-time LDOTD Certified Construction Inspector. ELOS’s Construction Inspection services play a critical role in ensuring construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards. Our goal is to ensure that DOTD construction projects are compliant with Louisiana DOTD standards, plans, and specifications.   Position Description: ELOS’s new LDOTD Certified Construction Inspector will perform construction inspections and general contract administration duties required of a District Project Engineer’s Construction Office including inspecting materials, performing field tests, verifying contractor work, maintaining documentation in systems like SiteManager and HeadLight, and certifying job site safety. Specialized areas of responsibility include Portland Cement Concrete Inspection, Asphaltic Concrete Pavement Inspection, Embankment and Base Course Inspection, and Structural Concrete Inspection. The candidate must be self-motivated and be able to perform all construction contract administration and related duties with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.   Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to): Quality Assurance/Field Inspection: Inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with LDOTD standards, including earthwork, paving, bridge construction, and traffic control devices. Material Testing: Sample and/or observe sampling of construction materials (soil density, concrete strength, asphalt cores) for quality compliance. Documentation and Data Entry: Maintain detailed field journals, reports, and haul tickets. Enter, review, and maintain construction data in LDOTD computer systems (e.g., SiteManager and HeadLight). Quantity Verification: Take measurements and calculate quantities of installed materials to assist with contractor pay estimates and change orders. Compliance Monitoring: Verify contractor work complies with project plans, specifications, and environmental guidelines. Project Coordination: Act as a liaison between the Project Engineer and the contractor, addressing deviations or safety issues. Certification Requirements: Must hold LDOTD-specific certifications in specialized areas relevant to the assigned project (see Experience/Desired Skills).   QualificationsExperience/Desired Skills: REQUIRED: LDOTD Work Zone Training (must be current): ATSSA Flagger ATSSA Traffic Control Technician/Supervisor LDOTD Certifications (Individual or multiple, must be current): Asphaltic Concrete Pavement (ACM) Inspector Portland Cement Concrete Inspection (PCC) Inspector Embankment and Basecourse Inspector Structural Concrete Inspector​​​​​ Preferred 1-2 years’ experience in LDOTD construction projects Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations Solid organizational and technical writing skills Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills Articulate with professional presence and decision-making skills Proficient with LDOTD software packages such as SightManager and HeadLight Must be able to conduct field inspections for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather conditions. Some projects may require wide-ranging travel and/or overnight stays. All projects will be located in Louisiana. Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation for daily travel.
