Job Description

Advex Corporation is seeking experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics to join our 2nd Shift Light Fabrication team supporting U.S. Navy shipbuilding and marine defense programs. This position is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and assembling precision sheet metal components, including ventilation systems, lockers, cabinets, and structural assemblies, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship.

What You'll Do

  • Read and interpret travelers, blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Fabricate, cut, form, fit, and tack weld light gauge sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Manufacture ventilation systems, lockers, cabinets, and other fabricated metal products to customer specifications.
  • Perform layout, fitting, grinding, and finishing operations using standard fabrication equipment.
  • Work with stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the fabrication process to ensure compliance with military and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of sheet metal fabrication experience, preferably in marine or defense manufacturing.
  • Experience fabricating ventilation systems or similar precision sheet metal assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Working knowledge of MIL STD 1688, MIL STD 1689, NAVSEA Technical Publications 248 and 278, and applicable PPD documentation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a NAVSEA regulated TIG welding performance qualification prior to hire, consisting of thin gauge aluminum and steel welds in the 2G and 3G positions.
  • Ability to use common fabrication tools, measuring equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to safely handle sheet metal, fabrication tools, and industrial equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, loud machinery, and industrial materials.

Employment Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to federal contract requirements.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all security requirements necessary to perform work supporting U.S. Government contracts.

2nd Shift 4pm - 2:30 am
30-minute lunch
