Annual Hiring Salary: $82,000-$88,320 + $10,000 Sign-on Bonus

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead the nursing services at the Regional Crisis Stabilization Center (RCSC), a residential crisis stabilization program located with the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center. The RCSC provides short-term crisis stabilization services to individuals experiencing acute behavioral health needs. This position provides nursing leadership and oversees the delivery of psychiatric and medical care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with a BSN or related bachelor's degree.
  • One year of behavioral health experience.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Candidate must obtain registration as a Qualified Mental Health Professional - Trainee (QMHP-T) with the Virginia Board of Counseling within thirty (30) days of employment or hold an active registration to practice as a QMHP.

What You'll Do

As the Nurse Manager, Crisis Stabilization, you will supervise nursing staff and, as assigned, psychiatric technicians while working closely with the Clinical Services Administrator and other members of the treatment team. This position plays an important role in providing safe, effective, person-centered care to individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, support, and evaluate nursing staff and assigned psychiatric technicians.
  • Participate in the supervision and coordination of psychiatric and medical services.
  • Provide nursing assessments, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and medically based treatment services.
  • Administer medications and injections and monitor clients for medication effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
  • Assist the staff psychiatrist with the prescription, administration, and monitoring of client medications.
  • Participate in treatment planning and coordinate linkages to community services and treatment providers.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and monitoring of clients during their stay.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing rapid assessment, evaluation, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and psychiatric and medical monitoring.
  • Support the program's brief-stay approach to reduce acute symptoms, stabilize clients, and help prevent unnecessary hospitalization.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff in the delivery of quality behavioral health services.
  • Ensure nursing practices are consistent with agency policies, procedures, and applicable professional standards.
