Production Supervisor

Position Summary

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee and manage the day-to-day operation of a department including the achievement of daily production goals, maintaining the quality and safety of the products, ensuring that all equipment and activity within the department meet the Kowalski Companies, Inc. standards for food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices as well as all USDA and OSHA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement daily production plans by coordinating equipment setup, monitoring results, and improving operational performance.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational inspections to ensure production readiness.
  • Foster a positive work culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Meet daily with production staff to discuss production plans and issues. (Morning Meeting)
  • Provide accurate and complete production records.
  • Actively communicate with other departments heads to effectively execute the production schedule.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to address equipment issues that occur within production.
  • Enforce company policy on attendance, company rules, safety rules, job description and sanitation requirements as well as GMP, food safety & security policies.
  • Monitor department KPIs and communicate performance results to management and production teams.
  • Supervise the sanitation effort to ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and to remain in accordance with applicable food safety regulations.
  • Provide hands-on support on the production floor when needed to meet production goals.
  • Ensure resources and supplies for production are ordered when needed.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees while addressing performance and workplace issues as appropriate.
  • Review and approve employee payroll hours using the company's payroll system.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of food manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.
  • Strong aptitude for data analysis and accurate information reporting.
  • Experience setting performance expectations and coaching employees.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Food Science, or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • ERP system experience
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable working in refrigerated conditions (40°F or below).
  • Must be able to wear required PPE while on the production floor.
