Overview

Engineering Technician II (H40-2026-25269)

 

Bowhead seeks a Engineering Technician II to support a newly awarded contract in Dahlgren, VA. This contract will provide configuration management (CM), logistics, mechanical and electrical engineering technician services, field service support, project management, drafting and design, technical writing, and acquisition services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Unmanned & Expeditionary Weapon Systems (H40) Division and Intelligent Automation (H60) Division.

 

Responsibilities

Job Duties to include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Designs and constructs major units and equipment.
  • Develops new test procedures and measurement techniques
  • Conducts tests and experiments to prove/disprove feasibility of design
  • Gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and draws simple curves and graphs.
  • Responding to and tracking issued work tickets
  • Supporting facility, assets, and equipment to maintain, repair, modify, replace, and upgrade
  • Providing other support as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or passing score on the General Education Development (GED) exam
  • Three (3) years of full-time professional experience working as an Engineering Technician in providing technical support related to the design, development, production, or testing directly in support of the Department of Defense
  • Two (2) year full-time hands-on experience in installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or testing of any major military system.
  • Experience in developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance; while assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data.
  • Experience with following published user manuals and maintenance documentation to include reading electrical drawings and system schematics.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
