Class A CDL Driver

Full Time

Salary: $13-$16/hr DOE

Job Summary:  This position is based out of Hanceville and will be driving freight to/from our Birmingham location – Class A CDL License required.   The employee in this position will be responsible for transporting freight, on a daily basis, between one or more locations but will return to Hanceville each day. Must be able to operate truck with a manual transmission.  Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds is required. Work environment includes company vehicle and warehouse, plant or production areas with periods of continual driving/sitting and occasional standing or walking.  The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing is required. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Must be able to pass all DOT and insurance regulations. Pre-employment testing (including background, drug screening and agility testing) will be required post offer.

Job Functions (Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements): The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Follow safety rules and work procedures.
  • Drives 24' straight truck (cap 10 tons) to transport materials to and from specified destinations by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
  • Prepares receipts for load picked up. May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations. 
  • Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. 
  • Position blocks and/or tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit. 
  • May load and unload truck; inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; and/or perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. 
  • Cleans work area or vehicle. 
  • Performs other duties as needed.
