Location: Tyson Foods Truck Stop in Hanceville, AL

Functions

• To maintain and promote the Tyson safety culture
•  Receive training as required
• Perform various positions as required/assigned

Description

This position is responsible for coordinating trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard and maintaining log of product loads while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.  

Tasks

Applicants will be considered for any Yard Driver opening.  This position requires a current valid State driver’s license. Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment.  

• Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach,  work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.  
• Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance functions.  
• Maintain clean work area by use of soap and high pressure hose.  Must be able to read to complete required logs.  
• Must be able to communicate with supervisor and co-workers via two-way radio.  
• May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.  
• May be required to operate front-end loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so.
• Must operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures.
• Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard.
• Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner.
• Set reefer units at appropriate settings.
• Check to see if reefer units will start.
• Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions.
• Chock trailers.
• Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance.
• Breaks must be staggered.
• Will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck.
• Will do pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift.
• Lot checks as requested by management.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
• Must be willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (12 hours per day).
• Must be willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (12 hours per day).
• Must be willing to twist and turn (12 hours per day).
• Must be willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (12 hours per day).
• Must be willing to walk a great deal (12 hours per day)

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
• Must have 6 months experience of tractor-trailer driving within the last 2 years.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than  3 times worked at Tyson Foods.
