Job Type: Full-Time/Flex | 0.8 - 1.0 FTE or 64 - 80 hours/pp

Schedule: 10-hour Day Shifts, Mon-Thurs (Varied start times from 0530 to 1000) plus rotating weekend call

Our Ambulatory Care Unit is a versatile, patient-focused team serving Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy, PACU, and Infusion Services. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to care for patients across multiple specialties, providing a unique blend of procedural, recovery, and outpatient nursing experiences. Nurses in the ACU enjoy a collaborative environment where teamwork, clinical excellence, and compassionate care are at the center of everything we do. 

 

How you'll contribute

An ACU RN who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

  • Documents patient care given.

  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

  • Capable of working scheduled, as well as on call hours.

  • Performs other job duties as assigned

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred). Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support Certification

  • One-year medical surgical experience required

  • OR, ACU, PACU experience preferred

  • ACLS, PALS (within 6 months of hire)

  • Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination Required
