How you'll contribute

An OB RN Childbirth Educator who excels in this role:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate childbirth education programs in accordance with established standards of care, utilizing strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and clinical skills. 

  • Provide education and support to expectant parents and families, promoting informed decision-making and positive birth experiences. 

  • Demonstrate excellent teaching, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences. 

  • Understand and respond to the cultural, physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of childbirth, lactation, and parenting. 

  • Present information confidently and effectively in both group and individual settings. 

  • Utilize sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while working independently and collaboratively. 

  • Maintain composure and effectiveness in a fast-paced, potentially stressful environment and take appropriate action when needed. 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor’s preferred). 

 

Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

  • Previous experience in OB and Childbirth Education

  • Childbirth Educator Certification (preferred) 

  • Annual influenza vaccination or declination
