Car Wash Technician

Oil Changers Car Wash — California (Based in Hanford, Traveling Statewide)
Full-Time | Field-Based | Travel Required

We're hiring at Technician or Apprentice level, depending on experience — tell us where you're at and we'll place you right.

Who we are

We run car washes across California — Oakland, Santa Clara, Dublin, Pacifica, Richmond, San Jose, Lemoore, Hanford, Chico, Grass Valley, Beaumont, Atascadero, and Merced. Automatic bays, self-service bays, vacuums, and everything that keeps them running. Every piece of equipment matters, every day.

We're building a team of people who take ownership of their work, show up with a good attitude, and figure things out when nobody else is around to help. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

If you're looking for a job where you clock in, do the minimum, and clock out — this isn't it.

What you'd be doing

You'd work alongside our California Car Wash Maintenance Manager, covering sites across the state. That means:

Equipment and maintenance:
- Preventative maintenance on IBA wash systems, self-service bays, vacuums, payment systems, and chemical delivery equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and control system issues
- Working with multimeters, schematics, breaker panels, contactors, single-phase and three-phase power (120/240)
- Running conduit, wiring, replacing wiring, making hydraulic hoses
- Running chemical lines, water lines, PVC and copper pipe
- Installing equipment into concrete, climbing ladders, working on roofs
- Troubleshooting logically — finding the real problem, not throwing parts at it

Site appearance and grounds:
- Keeping bays, lots, vacuum islands, and equipment looking like somebody cares
- Pressure washing, cleaning drains, maintaining the customer-facing appearance of every site
- If it's dirty, you clean it. If chemicals need filling, you fill them. You own the site.
- Deep cleaning equipment with wall cleaner and pressure washer

Documentation:
- Every work order in MaintainX with photos, parts used, root cause, and next steps. Non-negotiable.

What this job actually looks like day-to-day

You're in your truck, driving between sites across the state. Diagnosing a pump issue at one location, doing a PM at another, pressure-washing a bay at a third. Climbing ladders, crawling in equipment rooms, shoveling mud out of separators. This is physical, field-based work, and overnight travel is part of it.

Who fits here

- People who take extreme ownership — you don't wait to be told, you don't make excuses
- People who bring a good attitude and lift the team up
- People who figure things out — if you don't know the answer, you find someone who does
- People with a servant heart — no task is beneath you
- People who are always growing — watching videos, reading manuals, asking questions

Who does NOT fit here

- People who make excuses for everything
- People who say "that's not my job"
- People who need to be chased to get things done
- People who aren't honest — we have zero tolerance for dishonesty

What you need to have

Required:
- Mechanical aptitude — comfortable with hand tools, not afraid to get dirty
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel overnight across California when the business needs it
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work on roofs, lift 50+ lbs, work in all weather

Preferred (not required — we'll train the right person):
- Experience with IBA car wash systems (Ryko, Mark VII, or similar)
- Electrical troubleshooting (multimeter, schematics, breaker panels)
- Plumbing (PVC, copper, water lines, chemical lines)
- Experience with maintenance tracking software (MaintainX or similar)

If you've worked in HVAC, industrial maintenance, plumbing, electrical, automotive repair, or facilities maintenance — your skills probably transfer. We care more about how you think and who you are than what specific equipment you've worked on.

Our hiring process

1. Phone screen (15-20 minutes)
2. Video interview
3. In person on site interview
4. We'll ask you to connect us with your previous supervisors so we can speak with them directly. Standard for every candidate.

Compensation

Competitive pay based on experience. $20 - $24 We'll discuss specifics during the phone screen.
