As a Grain Operator you will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading raw materials (corn and DDG) in and out, as well as loading rail ethanol. In addition, you will be responsible for grain bin cleaning, inventory maintenance, and general grounds upkeep.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 

  1. Learn and operate the computer systems for corn receiving, ethanol loading and by-product loading. Safely operate equipment for moving railcars and handling DDG.
  2. Follow procedures for all aspects of the company safety program, including Confined Space Program and Lock-out Tag-out program.
  3. Maintain daily update of cleaning and PM maintenance checklists and routine duties calendar.
  4. Interface with plant personnel to ensure adequate corn, ethanol, and DDG movement and storage capacities are maintained.
  5. Collaborate with maintenance department to facilitate maintenance and repair of Grain and DDG equipment.
  6. Assist in maintaining the security and general upkeep of the plant and grounds.
  7. Operate computerized scale software to ensure accuracy of all transactions.
  8. Grade all incoming samples of corn proficiently and accurately.
  9. Analyze test data and determine appropriate action.
  10. Maintain and calibrate testing and weighing equipment.
  11. Maintain daily update of checklists and routine duties calendar.
  12. Prepare and enter daily production and shipment reports.
  13. Monitor and document railcar damage when assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate required. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the operation of grain receiving facility or dry-mill ethanol plant preferred. 
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to learn and work effectively with the plant’s computer systems.  
  • Punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with customers and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate information and state problems or challenges to be resolved in clear, concise, courteous, and professional manner and be able to provide clarification as necessary.   
  • Capable of adapting, with minimal or no advance notice. 

 

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:            This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds frequently.
