Our complete array of food packaging serves a variety of markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder and other dry food products. Location:
Hanover, PA. This plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry over various shift operations. The Hanover Plant is located on Rt 94 in York County and is in close proximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA, and the Maryland border.
**CURRENT OPENING: Conventional 1st Shift Schedule, Mon - Fri, 7:00am - 3:30pm. OVERTIME AS REQUIRED. **
 The starting hourly rate of pay is $23.9051 with progression increases.
Position Overview:
The Toolroom Technician, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, is responsible for maintaining an appropriate supply of machine tooling as directed to maintain the plant's operating capability.
Duties And Responsibilities:
The Toolroom Technician’s responsibilities would include, but not be limited to the following: Â
- Visually inspect machine tooling for wear and damage using microscopes, magnifying glasses or other tools as needed and disposition tool as necessary.
- Polish machine tooling using dedicated fixed equipment in the toolroom or other hand power tools on the floor as needed.Â
- Read and interpret machine and tooling engineering drawings and bill of materials.Â
- Measure machine tooling using precision measuring tooling. Record dimensional data in company SPC software.Â
- Track machine tooling consumption on spreadsheets to assist with predictive maintenance needs.
- Collect and use data to identify trends.
- Manage machine tooling inventory so the department has an adequate supply of machine tooling.
- Identify new tooling purchase needs, obtain quoted and submit purchase requisitions to keep the toolroom supplied with adequate tooling inventory.Â
- Have a thorough understanding of how cupping press and bodymaker tooling works.Â
- Assist with machine troubleshooting.
- Packages used tooling and ship out for rework.Â
- Receive new tooling, sort by side and store in toolroom in appropriate location.Â
- Develop training material utilizing Microsoft, Word, Excel or PowerPoint to communicate tooling related processes and bets practices to the team installing and utilizing the machine tooling and checking tooling in and out of inventory.Â
- Operating a forklift to move tooling and inventory
- Cycle count parts/tooling as identified.
- Report inventory and usage of machine tooling monthly by machine monthly or as requested.Â
- Maintain housekeeping excellence in the toolroom, or other areas as assigned.
- Follow plant safety rules and policies; participate in safety programs.
- Perform other job duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude to understand various parts/equipment specifications (part dimensions, bore sizes, tooling stack tolerances, machine tooling best practices, engineering drawings, etc.)
- At least one year of demonstrated precision measuring experience utilizing micrometers, dial indicators, surface plates.Â
- Advanced computer abilities, Microsoft Office, Email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Â
- Ability to read and utilize precision measuring tools (ex. micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, rulers, etc.)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Effective communication skills dealing with internal Team Members and external Vendors, etc.
- Basic math abilities
- Must be available to work various shifts if needed to provide additional support.
Preferred Requirements:
- High School Education/GED
- Basic understanding of can manufacturing process and the make/model of the major plant machinery.
- Knowledge of all OSHA related training in a manufacturing environment.
- 6S Training
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Â
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand/walk for 8–12-hour shifts.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision and/or ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
- Generally, works in a toolroom environment but may be required to perform some job duties in a manufacturing production floor setting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team members will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic, and a range of temperatures.
- Production noise level is frequently loud.
