General Description and Classification Standards
Under the general direction of the Airport Director, Emergency Management, this position manages the Department of Aviation's Radio Communications Program. The incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and continuously improving radio communications capabilities that support all first responder operations, maintenance and construction operations, special events, emergencies and continuity processes.
The position serves as the manager for the Department of Aviation’s Motorola Radio system and the steward for its handheld radios, vehicle-installed radios, and associated communications equipment. Responsibilities include lifecycle management, asset accountability, operational readiness, vendor coordination, maintenance, testing, inspections, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities also include maintaining the operational readiness of the Emergency Management Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV) and developing policies, procedures, and performance measures that strengthen radio communications operations across the Department of Aviation.
This position emphasizes program management, operational readiness, interdepartmental coordination, and vendor management.
Supervision Received
Works under the general direction of the Airport Director, exercising considerable independent judgment within established policies, procedures, and program objectives.
