The FSQA Programs & Regulatory Superintendent supports the Ready-to-Cook poultry facility by leading key FSQA programs and regulatory activities, including pathogen monitoring, label review/approvals, internal auditing, and document control (procedures and forms). This role partners with Operations, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Corporate FSQA to ensure USDA/FSIS compliance, customer requirements, and effective execution of plant food safety and quality systems. The position will also serve as a backup to the FSQA Supervisor to support daily FSQA oversight as needed. |
- Support regulatory compliance with USDA/FSIS requirements and plant programs (HACCP, SSOP, GMPs, sanitation, process control).
- Coordinate and support label review/approvals, including verifying compliance to FSIS labeling regulations and company/customer requirements (ingredients, allergens, net weight, safe handling, claims, approvals, and documentation).
- Maintain labeling records and approvals; support label change control and communication to affected departments.
- Maintain and update FSQA procedures/SOPs, work instructions, and program documents to ensure they remain current, controlled, and audit-ready.
- Create, revise, and control FSQA forms and records; ensure latest versions are available at point of use and obsolete documents are removed.
- Support training rollouts for revised procedures/forms and track completion where required.
- Support and execute the internal audit program, including audit schedule, checklists, and reporting.
- Conduct internal audits of BRCGS, HACCP/SSOP, GMPs, sanitation, process controls, calibration/verification activities, traceability, hold/release, training, and document control.
- Document findings clearly, assign corrective actions, verify closure, and trend repeat issues for continuous improvement.
- Assist in preparing for and supporting customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including corrective action responses.
- Assist with management of the facility pathogen monitoring and verification programs (e.g., Salmonella and other required microbiological testing), ensuring sampling plans meet regulatory, customer, and corporate requirements.
- Coordinate sample collection, handling, storage, shipment, and chain-of-custody documentation to ensure integrity and traceability.
- Review microbiological results, trend data, and investigate positives/out-of-trend findings; lead documented root cause analysis and CAPA with verification of effectiveness.
- Partner with Sanitation and Operations to drive corrective actions and program improvements based on data.
- Serve as backup to the FSQA Supervisor, including oversight of daily FSQA activities, technician assignments, verification of critical checks, and escalation/decision support.
- Assist with product disposition, hold/release, nonconformance investigations, and corrective actions as required.
- Support coaching, training, and development of FSQA technicians and cross-functional partners.

- 3+ years of FSQA experience in a poultry RTC or meat processing facility.
- Working knowledge of USDA/FSIS regulatory requirements and plant programs (HACCP, SSOP, GMPs).
- Strong documentation skills with experience maintaining procedures and controlled forms.
- Ability to lead investigations and corrective actions using RCA tools (5-Why, Fishbone, etc.).
Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Animal Science, or related field OR equivalent FSQA experience in poultry/meat manufacturing.
