- Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.
Responsibilities
- The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits.
- Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
- Designs and implements the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment, using appropriate modalities.
- Documents findings of patient progress and monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed, seeking consultation as necessary.
- Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
- Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
- Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.
- Maintains accurate and timely medical records, daily charges and personnel in-service attendance records.
- Maintains a proactive involvement in the performance improvement process as it relates to departmental, site and network functions.
- Practices in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's and/or doctoral degree preferred.
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Licensed by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE).
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Two (2) years of experience.
