Position Summary
• Responsible for the orientation, onboarding, education, and competency validation of unit nursing staff.
Education
• NPDLF – BSN preferred; must obtain BSN within 2 years of hire.
Licenses and Certification
• Current Illinois RN license required • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association (AHA) required
Experience and Skills
• Three (3) years professional RN experience.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Level I and Level II
• Collaborates with members of the NPD team, nursing leaders, nursing staff, and other hospital departments to implement on-boarding and orientation programs for nursing personnel. o Collaborates with members of the NPD team, nursing leaders, staff, and other hospital departments to implement competency programs as appropriate to area of responsibility. o Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development Outcomes Leaders to design education programs and learning activities to address learning needs and practice gaps at the individual and unit/facility level. Activities are developed to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill, or practice. o Implements activities that promote professional role development and role transition (e.g Residency). o Collaborates with partners to share expertise in planning and decision making to achieve the desired results. Interprofessional collaboration involves multiple healthcare personnel from different professional backgrounds working together to deliver the highest quality of care. o Observes and questions current clinical practice and collaborates with Nursing Professional Development Outcomes Leaders to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes. o Facilitates learning as appropriate to areas of responsibility through established educational programs such as the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American Heart Association, the American Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses. and the Emergency Nurses Association
Compensation (Commensurate with experience):
