Job Summary:

The Dental Director is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and strategic direction of Hamilton Health Center’s Dental Department across multiple service locations. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered dental care while maintaining operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.

The Dental Director plays a key leadership role in driving clinical excellence, expanding access to care, supporting provider performance, and advancing the organization’s mission within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight of all dental providers and clinical staff
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered dental services across all locations
  • Oversee clinical performance, peer review processes, and provider evaluations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain dental policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and all regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with leadership on operational planning, staffing models, and patient flow optimization
  • Monitor productivity, performance metrics, and departmental outcomes
  • Partner with Finance and leadership to develop and manage departmental budgets
  • Support revenue cycle initiatives and departmental financial performance
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and development of dental staff in collaboration with Human Resources
  • Investigate and respond to patient complaints in accordance with organizational policy
  • Serve as Dental Radiation Safety Officer and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Prepare reports, participate in leadership meetings, and support strategic initiatives
  • Provide direct patient care as needed, consistent with credentials and privileges

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited program
  • Active license to practice Dentistry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Board certification or eligibility through the American Dental Association
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a dental or clinical setting
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical operations, staff performance, and compliance

Preferred:

  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or multi-site healthcare organization
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and regulatory survey processes
  • Experience with budgeting, productivity metrics, and revenue cycle performance
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of dental practice management and regulatory standards
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multi-site operations and competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to utilize data for decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and ethical decision-making

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Travel between Hamilton Health Center locations required
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform fine motor tasks
