Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for meal preparation, suite management, household management, grocery inventory, and ordering/shopping. May assist with therapist-directed patient activities, including meal preparation, laundry, suite management, driving, community integration activities, patient monitoring, and documentation as appropriate.

 

  • Cleans and sanitizes/disinfects patient suits/rooms daily, including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, making the beds cleaning and sanitizing/disinfects bathrooms, showers, toilets, sinks, and solid surfaces, including glass, grab bars, and all handles and door knobs empty trash receptacles and replenishes towels.
  • Cleans kitchen daily, including sweeping, vacuuming and mopping floors, sanitizing sinks, countertops, cabinets and cabinet handles, appliance doors & handles, and uses kitchen towels and dishcloths according to hygiene standards.
  • Follows menu guidelines and Neuro Transitional Rehabilitation (NTR) policy and prepares or assists patients in meal planning and food preparation, following the therapist's direction. Cooks food and serves food at temperatures stated in regulatory guidelines. Ensures food is stored according to state regulation and NTR policy with clearly marked dates. Monitors dates of all canned, frozen, packaged, or leftover food weekly to ensure food is not kept past the expiration date.
  • Prepares patient grocery shopping lists and facility lists to maintain adequate groceries and household supplies. Purchases groceries incorporating patients in a community outing as appropriate, following therapist direction.
  • Sorts washes, load, and unloads laundry and puts away laundry, assisting patients as indicated
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of patients, responsible for reviewing weekly residential recommendations and following through on the assigned level of supervision required for each patient.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current State Driver's License in good standing required
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in housekeeping and food services preferred
  • Nursing Assistant, home health aide, or medication aide is preferred
  • Experience in neuro transitional rehabilitation environment preferred; experience with brain injury and spinal cord injury population preferred
