UPMC Community Osteopathic is hiring a full-time Central Sterile Processing Supervisor for the evening shift (2:30 PM–11 PM). In this leadership role, you’ll oversee a team and manage all daily sterile processing operations, including instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case picking, and equipment cleaning. You’ll ensure safe, efficient workflows and serve as a key resource for staff and clinical teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicates clearly in writing and verbally, with thorough documentation that supports teamwork and patient care.
  • Applies strong critical-thinking skills to address clinical, safety, and patient-support needs.
  • Incorporates organizational and national standards to enhance safety, quality, and patient experience.
  • Builds positive, compassionate relationships and shares new knowledge through presentations and education.
  • Uses performance-improvement tools to integrate best practices, reduce instrument errors, and improve turnaround times.
  • Strengthens team culture through mentoring, positive communication, and promoting diversity and accountability.
  • Supports professional development by coordinating education, certifications, and staff growth opportunities.
  • Demonstrates UPMC Core Values through accurate, timely, and patient-centered service.
  • Collaborates with leadership to maintain quality standards, drive improvements, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Leads and develops the sterile processing team, ensuring accurate instrument processing, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization.

     



  • High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • 3 years' experience in central sterile processing. 
  • 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
  • Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
  • Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds. 

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • Act 34
