POSITION AT A GLANCE 

Location: Butler, PA
Position Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Pay: $27.00 - $38.00/hour - Based on Experience


Sign-On Bonus: Earn up to $5,000 for Expert and Master-Level Diesel Technicians!


WHAT YOU’LL DO 

As a Diesel Mechanic Technician, you’ll be diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

➤ Perform minor to advanced repairs as outlined on the repair order
➤ Diagnose causes of malfunctions and complete repairs as directed by a supervisor
➤ Assist other technicians on major repairs
➤ Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts
➤ Save and tag warranty or customer-requested parts
➤ Examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs
➤ Document all work performed and recommended, including warranty information
➤ Road test vehicles as required or refer to test technician
➤ Keep work area, service truck, and customer vehicles clean and organized
➤ Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
➤ Stay current on manufacturer technical bulletins
➤ Follow all federal, state, and local regulations, and adhere to Hunter Truck safety policies

Expert to Master levels will also:

➤ Handle complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision
➤ Performs electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs.
➤ Performs major component repairs and/or overhauls

 

WHAT YOU BRING 

Expert Level - $3,000 Sign-on Bonus:

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine operation
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and repair tools. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engine issues with minimal supervision. 
  • Knowledge of industry-standard diagnostic tools and equipment. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow and lead others in safety protocols.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Vocational/technical school graduate with a minimum of three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. 
  • Must have experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting. 
  • Must have experience in electrical repair and air conditioning systems.
  • Must have component overhaul experience and/or specialty (A/C or electrical) experience.
  • Must be able to obtain passing grade during Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and/or vendor training
  • Must have good supply of most hand tools to complete most repairs


Master Level - $5,000 Sign-on Bonus:

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in diesel engine operation, electronic controls, and driveline systems. 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engine issues.
  • Ability to mentor and teach lower-level technicians proper procedures and techniques. 
  • Proficiency in using OEM diagnostic software.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety protocols and recognize potential safety issues.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be a vocational/technical school graduate and have a minimum five (5) years related experience.
  • Must have experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting; electrical repair; air conditioning systems; must have component overhaul experience and/or air specialty (A/C electrical); must hold and maintain the required certifications for each area of expertise.
  • Must have good supply of all tools needed to complete all repairs.


Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards. 

Physical Requirements: Regular standing and use of hands; frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs, frequently up to 100 lbs, and occasionally more than 100 lbs. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
