Job DetailsJob Location: Harrisonville, MO 64701Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolJob Shift: Any  Department: Environmental Services  Title: Housekeeper  Work Schedule: Flexibility to work any shift with short notice. Primary schedule will be Thursday-3pm to 11:30pm, Friday- 3pm to 11:30pm, Saturday-12pm to 8:30pm, Sunday- 12pm to 8:30pm and Monday 3pm to 11:30pm. Scheduled off days: Tuesday and Wednesday.  Primary Purpose: To clean assigned areas of the hospital and to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, orderly and attractive condition.                                       Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities:  No formal responsibility.  The policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities are set by others.                                           Routine Decision Making: Makes decisions on areas that need cleaning in the absence of Manager of Environmental Services.                                         Formal Supervisory Responsibility: No formal supervisory responsibility.                                               Required Knowledge: Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines; knowledge of waste and infectious waste and chemicals; knowledge of proper use of personal protective equipment.                  Unusual Working Conditions: Working with approved cleaning chemicals; risk of blood, body fluid contamination.                   Education and Certification/ Registration Required for the Position: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. High school education or equivalent preferred.                  Essential Responsibilities:   A.          Sanitize all respective areas of the hospital.            1. Appropriately use bowl and bath cleaner, daily.                                                             2. Appropriately clean inside and outside of bowl, daily.                                                 3. Appropriately clean mirrors, daily.                                                       4. Restock paper towels and toilet paper daily.                                                    5. Appropriately wipe sink and shower down, daily.                                                          6. Use proper personal protective equipment, daily. B.         Sanitize all patient areas of hospital.          1. Clean bed completely on dismissals, daily.                                                        2. Spot wash windows and walls, daily.                                                   3. Follow seven-step method, daily.                                                         4. Restock supplies and check sharp containers, and empty as needed, daily.                                        5. Wipe down all surfaces in area, daily.                                                 6. Replace comment cards, daily. C.          Sanitize all ancillary areas of hospital.                  1. Wipe down exam bed, weekly.                                                             2. Follow seven-step method, daily.                                                         3. Sanitize all surfaces, daily.                                                       4. Spot wash windows, walls, and doors daily.                                                     5. Restock supplies and check sharp containers, and empty as needed, daily.                                                      6. Detail cleaning monthly.                                                                                                                                                 D.          Collect and dispose of trash in all areas of hospital.            1. Pull trash daily in all areas.                                                      2. Wipe inside and outside trash containers, daily.                                                             3. Put clean trash liner in trash cans, daily, as needed.                                                    4. Transport trash in barrels with lid on, daily.                                                      5. Use proper personal protective equipment, daily              E.          Collect, dispose, and transport bio-hazardous waste in hospital.  1. Use proper personal protective equipment, daily.                                                        2. Sanitize inside and outside container daily, as needed.                                                               3. Transport in closed containers, daily.                                                  4. Replace red bio-hazard bag inside container, daily. G.          Restock and clean carts.        1. Dust mop all areas daily.                                                           2. Wet mop all areas daily.                                                           3. Vacuum carpets as needed, daily.                                                        4. Vacuum floor mats daily.                                                          5. Spot clean carpet as needed daily.                                                       6. Clean baseboards and corner as needed, daily.              H.           Properly maintain equipment.    1. Restock cart with needed supplies daily.                                                           2. Clean cart at end of shift, daily.             I.             Evening and weekend shift responsibility assigned by Manager of Environmental Services                     1. Perform job verification completions and areas of completions.                2. Perform and ensure supply restock in EVS storeroom.                3. Communicate with nursing to ensure all cleaning requests are completed on time.                 4. Perform any additional tasks assigned related to EVS department operations.        QualificationsNo formal Education. Hospital or Janitorial Cleaning experience preferred but not required.
