Verifies and maintains records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Accurately enter data into the appropriate system.
- Determines method of shipment.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
- Insert items into containers.
- Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with purchasers to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Investigate pending invoices that don’t have receipts.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.Â
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred or;
- One to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience
- One year’s manufacturing experience is preferable.
