The Opportunity

We seek an energetic, motivated, Financial Reporting & Analysis Associate to join our team. As a member of the team, you will be part of an interdisciplinary reporting and analysis team in our Controller’s department that can execute on management reporting while leveraging and maintaining key reporting systems to optimize, compile and analyze the Company’s financial results, collaborate with finance teams throughout the CFO organization, and present financial results to senior management.

The Management, Statutory Audited and Regulatory Reporting team is part of MassMutual’s Corporate Finance Organization. Team members are energized to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting data to internal and external customers while successfully executing on financial reporting controls. The Impact

As a Financial Reporting & Analysis Associate, you will produce, analyze and deliver regulatory, audited and management reports, utilize key financial reporting systems and collaborate with internal and external customers to execute financial reporting controls. To accomplish this, you will:

  • Demonstrate business acumen to interpret statutory regulatory and reporting requirements to timely and accurately produce regulatory, audited statement and management reports for key constituents including Senior Management, External Auditors, Regulatory bodies, and the Board of Directors
  • Prepare certain quarterly and annual regulatory and audited statutory exhibits, schedules and disclosures
  • Complete state forms and participate in state filing processes
  • Monitor executing and documenting key controls, including, but not limited to statement tie-outs, financial statement line items fluctuations, quality assurance validations and review, proper sing-offs on inputs from dependent sources
  • Supervise offshore team members to timely and accurately execute query refreshes and quality assurance reviews
  • Work in a fast paced and agile work environment to meet or exceed deadlines
  • Follow the daily quarterly close process, track and follow up on notable items
  • Participate complex cross-functional projects
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies within the reporting processes beyond the scope of responsibilities listed
  • Develop technical skills and improve competencies supporting role

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3 + years of experience working with audited statements, including disclosures OR regulatory reports OR 1 year working experience with audited statutory and GAAP reporting in life insurance companies
  • 1+ years experience with general ledger reporting cubes and warehouses; and the ability to gather data elements from various sources

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Knowledge of advanced insurance and investment statutory accounting principles
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • CPA or advanced degree in accounting
  • Other competencies required include customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building & influencing
