Program Overview
Are you a high performing student who demonstrates leadership, curiosity, and a desire to make an impact? A High School Internship at The Hartford Financial Services Company offers valuable exposure to a real-world Fortune 200 environment where students build relevant skills, strengthen core competencies, and gain insight into the fast paced world of corporate information technology. Each intern is paired with an experienced IT mentor who guides their learning and helps them explore innovative technology services.

Functional Team
The intern will join the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, gaining exposure to several initiatives including cloud transformation, resilience, application modernization and proliferation of AI into workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with program management activities
- Support creation of organization and program artifacts
- Shadow team members
- Observe agile ceremonies
- Learn and apply automation using Power BI, SharePoint, AI/Copilot
- Research opportunities to improve automation
- Participate in weekly huddles
- Support documentation and operational tasks
Opportunity
The intern will gain exclusive insights into how a large-scale CTO organization manages delivery, with exposure to senior level executives and large-scale program delivery leads. The intern will have the opportunity to receive bi-weekly coaching and mentoring from the Office of CTO VP. In addition, the candidate will have an opportunity to learn and gain exposure to Power BI, SharePoint, AI/Copilot.
Competencies and Skills Required
- Curiosity and a desire to learn
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to follow direction and guidance
- Familiarity with and interest in technology implementation for improve business outcomes/customer experience
- Interest in Microsoft 365, Power BI, SharePoint and AI tools.
Other Requirements
- Technology‑related curriculum preferred
- Participation in clubs or volunteer programs preferred
- Teacher recommendations preferred
Location of Internship
1 Hartford Plaza, Hartford, CT.
Virtual, remote and onsite opportunities available.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 24 hours/week
- Internship mid‑June through mid‑August
- Typical hours 8:30 AM–5:00 PM.
Special Considerations
Reliable transportation required for onsite work
Must meet State employment eligibility requirements and successfully complete a background check
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
