Position Purpose
Provides dental hygiene services, including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and oral hygiene instructions to children, adolescent, adult, geriatric and medically compromised patients. Documents treatment and examination results in the patient's record. Position may require working at either campus. Partial access to medications is given to the incumbent of this position because they are required by their job responsibilities to transport or stock medications to approved medication storage locations
What you will do
Provide dental hygiene services to children, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and medically compromised patients
Prepare and clean operatory implements recall system
Perform hygiene services as observed by supervisor.
Perform prophylaxis, scaling and root planning
Participate in the soft tissue management program
Apply topical fluoride and apply scalants to teeth
Demonstrate and evaluate oral hygiene techniques and explain progress of periodontal disease
Advise doctor of need for local anesthetic as indicated by patient response to treatment or as documented in the patient's record
Take radiographs on children, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients
Record medical history and collect patient data on patients
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or certificate in dental hygiene
Current Licensure in Connecticut
