Prism Specialties is a residential and commercial specialty-item disaster restoration company whichÂ
restores electronics, art, textiles, and documents which have been impacted by a fire, flood, orÂ
lightning/power surge. We are growing rapidly and searching for additional team members to growÂ
with us!
We are currently seeking a qualified Electronics/Electrical Technical Specialist to join our team.
The Electronics/Electrical Technical Specialist will be expected to have the problem-solving skills toÂ
navigate a wide variety of situations. This is a job with a great amount of variety. Never boring! JobÂ
responsibilities will be split between working in our shop and on-site at the customers’ location.
Training will be provided in all Prism processes. Just bring your knowledge, effort, and ability to learn!Â
Cross-training will be done in the art, textiles, and document areas, with the training emphasis in theÂ
electronics/electrical area.
*** Applicant MUST CURRENTLY hold a valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and be ableÂ
to drive to the shop or to a customer’s location as scheduled. ***
Shop work will consist of:
- Testing and validating the functionality of appliances, computers, TVs, home theater equipment, andÂ
various other household electronics.
- Evaluating items to make repair/replace decisions.
- Cleaning and final testing items to ensure they are fully operational.
- Wrapping items for undamaged return to the customer’s location.
*** Must be comfortable taking items apart and methodical in nature to ensure everything goes backÂ
together correctly. ***
On-Site work will consist of:
- The same as shop work plus...
- Driving a 16’ box truck, extended work van, or other company vehicle.
- Communicating with the customer and keeping them at ease (people can be understandably upsetÂ
after experiencing a fire/flood/power surge).
- Mapping and labeling all items’ connections and how they are to be reconnected. When reconnecting,Â
ensuring the customer is satisfied everything is correct. *** This is especially critical for computerÂ
systems and home theater setups. ***
- Eventually directing developing employees and ensuring proper time management for the entire team.
Applicant must have:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and DOT health screening.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry over 50 pounds up/down stairways.
- 2+ yrs. experience as a technician/handyperson in any relevant field.
- Excellent English oral and written communications.Â
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A professional, neat, and clean appearance and be customer service oriented.
- A broad technical knowledge.
- Whether job or hobby related, knowledge of the following: cell phone repair, laptop repair, buildingÂ
PCs, setting up home theater systems, disconnecting, connecting, troubleshooting, testing, and cleaningÂ
appliances.
Overview:
The ideal candidate is a "jack-of-all trades". If your friends and family call you when they have problems,Â
you are probably a perfect fit for this job.
Legacy knowledge is just as important as the latest technology as many customers’ items are not up toÂ
date.
Computer, appliance and television technicians should apply. Applicants with restoration industryÂ
experience should apply. The right applicant will be trained in the areas they are less experienced in.Â
This position is being offered as both P/T and F/T. Hours and pay will be based on experience. We are aÂ
growing company, and there is a tremendous opportunity to grow with us!
