Antimicrobial Research and Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the Center for Anti-Infective Research and Development (CAIRD), Hartford Hospital to begin July 6, 2026.  This position will last for two years, ending on June 30, 2028. 

Our lab focuses on catalyzing the infectious diseases translational pipeline, from validated insights to bedside breakthroughs.  Our research portfolio ranges from pre-clinical, early discovery of new antibiotic molecules, to benchtop microbiology and pharmacology, to clinical pharmacokinetics and treatment outcome studies in patients admitted to Hartford Hospital.    

 Job Summary:

As a Fellow at CAIRD, you will be responsible for coordinating various research projects - these may include in vitro antibacterial efficacy assays, in vivo animal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies (PK/PD), ex vivo studies, and a range of Phase I through IV clinical studies for various antimicrobials in humans.  Throughout your two years, you will learn skills that will allow you to be a successful researcher once you complete the program.   To fulfill the job responsibilities of the fellowship, PharmD fellows must obtain your registered pharmacist CT license at your expense.



Minimum Qualifications: 

·        Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., PharmD, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry)

·        Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment

·        Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and modeling

 

Desirable Qualifications:

·        Publication record

·        Experience with animal models

·        Experience with infectious diseases pharmacotherapy

·        Experience with antimicrobial resistance
