Description:

Position Purpose

Supports pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities. This includes maintaining Pyxis stock levels by loading and refilling medications including narcotics for all in-patients. Prepares and compounds neonatal oral liquids, and other extemporaneous products. Packages and distributes drugs and sterile products.

What you will do

  • Perform general pharmacy duties by assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing duties including deliveries, checking stock levels and picking medications.

  • Answer telephones, assist nurses trouble-shooting Pyxis questions and drawer maintenance

  • Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability and expiration dates as well as maintaining proper drug reliability in the pharmacy

  • Maintain records of orders, processes patient charges and collects productivity statistics

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a hospital-based, community college or military technician training program preferable.

  • Previous experience strongly preferred; IV and compounding experience preferred

  • Current state (CT) registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required

  • Pharmacy Technician I: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required within 1 year of hire

  • Pharmacy Technician II: PTCB National certification as a Pharmacy Technician is required
