POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position: Paces/Core Activity Coordinator 

Department: Residential Program

Supervisor(s): Director of Student Life/Associate Director of Student Life

Description: 12 months – Benefits eligible

Union Status: Non-Collective Bargaining (non-union)

 

SCHEDULE:

Monday: 2:30 PM- 8:00 PM

Tuesday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Wednesday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Thursday: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paces/Core Activity Coordinator serves as the critical link between academic/day programming and residential (dorm) life, ensuring the consistent teaching, reinforcement, and generalization of functional and adaptive skills across settings. This role coordinates the implementation of individualized student goals, supports staff training, and maintains strong communication with families to promote student independence and success.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Life, Director of Clinical, teachers, and other school staff to support the overall well-being of residential and academic success of students.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized daily living skills plans, including hygiene, self-care, meal preparation, social communication, community participation, and independent living skills.
  • Provide training, resources, and ongoing coaching to residential staff to ensure consistency in instructional strategies and behavior supports.
  • Collect, review, and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instructional and programmatic decisions.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians through weekly calls, virtual meetings, and regular updates on student progress, challenges, and successes; share photos of student participation as appropriate.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, including 12-week reviews, IEP development, and collaborative planning.
  • Serve as a liaison between school-day and residential programs to ensure alignment of routines, expectations, and student supports.
  • Programming & Events: Create and a monthly calendar of activities, including study breaks, movie nights, fitness groups, and weekend excursions. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or related needs

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and apply data to guide decision-making
  • Knowledge of behavior support strategies and functional life skills instruction
  • Ability to train and support multidisciplinary staff
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • At least 2 years of Supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Competency in American Sign Language required. 

 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Group health insurance and other fringe benefits are available.
  • $1000 sign on bonus after one year of service for newly hired employees, not applicable for re-hires.
