Production Supervisor - Structural Steel Division 

 

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead shop operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate shop personnel including machine operators, fitters, welders, and shipping/receiving
  • Review shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards
  • Partner with Quality Control and Production Management to address deficiencies and ensure quality
  • Enforce safety standards; conduct orientations and weekly toolbox talks
  • Train employees on fabrication methods, performance standards, and safety procedures
  • Monitor production schedules, manpower, and time tracking; communicate issues to management
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and product quality
  • Track production progress and report delays, material issues, or schedule impacts
  • Participate in weekly production meetings and daily coordination with management
  • Collaborate with internal teams and occasionally with customers


Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of supervisory or lead experience in structural steel fabrication (columns, beams, bracing, trusses)
  • Strong knowledge of methods, materials, shop equipment, and safety practices of the fabrication process
  • Comprehensive knowledge of AISC and AWS standards
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents (sketches, diagrams, drawings, etc.)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Tekla EPM, and Bluebeam

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read/write/speak English
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical shop duties
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check
