Security Officer

The Security Officer at Montefiore Medical Group ensures the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors within the healthcare facility. This position involves monitoring and responding to incidents, maintaining a secure environment, and aiding as needed. The role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Guard and secure designated entrances and exits to ensure only patients, associates, and authorized visitors enter the facility.
• Monitor the flow of visitors within the facility, providing directions to specific authorized destinations to minimize loitering.
• Monitor and patrol assigned areas in and around the facility to prevent incidents and safeguard property.
• Interact and cooperate with Montefiore associates during scheduled rounds and in response to ad hoc security issues.
• Respond rapidly to emergency and unusual situations, including fires, disturbances, and disruptive patients or visitors, providing immediate assistance and resolution.
• Check authorizations for the removal of medical center property, safeguarding facility, patient, and associate assets against theft or unauthorized removal.
• Conduct initial investigations of incidents and prepare clear, accurate, and timely security reports and logs according to policy.
• Exercise constant vigilance regarding safety, receiving complaints and suggestions from staff, and communicating feedback to security leadership.
• Perform ancillary support functions including morgue operations, vehicular traffic control, off-hours package receipt, information desk coverage, and inter-facility transport.
• Perform all related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of security or military experience.
• Completion of a New York State approved Security Guard training program and a current NYS Security Guard License.
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Proficiency with office equipment, PCs (to process security reports), electronic communications equipment, CCTV, and electronic security systems.
• Mandatory OHS Annual Assessment and OHS Fit Test.
• Valid NYS Class 4 Driver's License preferred (and authorization to operate a motor vehicle).

Shift Monday to Friday 1200P – 0830P; Alternating Saturdays
