Career Technician, Mobile Repair

Trinity Rail is hiring a Career Technician, Mobile Repair at our Gonzales, TX site.

What you'll do:

-Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance
-Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
-Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience
-Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
-Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates -strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
-Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
-Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
-Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
-Perform outlined work under supervision of site or crew leader
-Follows all safety rules and practices
-May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
-Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality
-Perform other duties as assigned
 

What you'll need:

-Minimum of 1.5 years’ experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficient in one or more of the following disciplines:   Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable
-Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings
-Any type of Welding/Valve/Mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred
-Valid Driver’s License and good driving record
-Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work
-Ability to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits
-Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions
-Ability to understand Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules
-Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required
-May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians
-Valid Drivers License and clean driving record
