SUMMARY OF POSITION
Assists physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties, such as preparing patient exam rooms, performing, and recording vitals, and all other medical care allowed within the scope of certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and maintain patient exam rooms
- Assist nurses with patient care and communications
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioner with patient care and communications
- Maintain inventory of medical and lab supplies
- Manage biohazard wasteÂ
- Interview patients to obtain and record their medical history
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Record and document patient information
- Perform urine drug screen collections
- Draw blood for testing (after appropriate training)
- Perform lab testing in our office laboratory (if certified by current MT)
- Instrument sterilization
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested within the scope of certification
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum education:   Current certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is required. Two years’ experience preferred.

SKILLS
- Communicate with patients and others
- Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to detail
- Knowledge in the fields of medicine, anatomy, and physiology
- Essential computer skills are necessary
