Regional Assistant Foreman

Travel: Required – Regional 25%

Schedule: M-F 07:00-15:30 with OT, Occasional weekends, additional hours as necessary.

Summary:

The Regional Assistant Foreman is responsible for the safety, training, track protection and assistance of employees and contractors under their supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities are, but are not limited to:

· Must be able to perform manual labor in all types of weather.

· Is required to perform any remedial action recommended by track foreman through job briefings.

· Responsible for maintenance and documentation of assigned section of track but may be called to perform maintenance duties system wide on NPR per Roadmaster or Track Inspector.

· Required to monitor train movements and weather conditions and assist in performing track inspection in coordination with the track inspector.

· Will be subject to emergency and overtime work and inspections.

· Responsible for all tools, track material, equipment, track machines and vehicles in use on the assigned section of track.

· Required to wear all safety equipment required by NPR while performing duties.

· May be called on to perform work other than track maintenance.

· Must have the ability to supervise a crew in restoration, renewal, maintenance, and new construction of track structures.

· Will perform work on Northern Plains Railroad as directed.

· Must have the ability to recognize any deviation from track safety standards and prescribe and perform remedial action.

· Must have the ability to supervise a crew in restoration, renewal, maintenance, and new construction of track structures.

· Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.

· Ability to work as a team.

· Travel required.

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform on uneven or slippery surfaces, platforms, ladders, equipment in all weather and temperature conditions. Most of the day could be spent on feet standing. Eye/hand coordination, hand/feet dexterity and grasping hand tools, materials & equipment is required. The employee is frequently required to perform manual labor & physical activities that require considerable use of the whole body, such as standing and lifting from various levels.

· Travel will be required to various facilities to provide additional services.

Environmental:

· Continuous: Must be able to work outdoors in all extreme weather conditions. Work outdoors at project sites in harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather. Must wear appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats, safety footwear, and hearing protection as required. Exposure to dust. Uneven surfaces. · Frequent: Noise

· Occasional: Vibration, works at heights.

· Must be able to work in all types of weather, including very hot and very cold weather.

· Exposed to live track/trains/moving equipment.

· Exposed to loud noises.

Education and Training:

· GED or higher.

· 6 months or more with working a railroad.

· Driver's License required.

· Class A non-tractor trailer CDL preferred.

· Must have and maintain an insurable driving status which includes but is not limited to NPRS driver provisions.

· Must have or be able to obtain a valid DOT (Department of Transportation) Medical Certificate (Med Card)
