Sonic Summary

info
  • We are seeking 5-Axis CNC Machinists with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a precision environment, specifically on 5-axis mills and large-format machinery.
  • The role involves setting up and operating complex jobs end-to-end, from blueprint interpretation to final inspection, with a focus on tight tolerances for aerospace and semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Compensation for this position ranges from $36 to $42 per hour, with first shift hours from Monday to Friday.
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in GD&T, CNC programming, and problem-solving, along with a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
  • We value ownership-driven, coachable individuals who are eager to grow their careers in aerospace and defense.

Overview

We’re hiring 5-Axis CNC Machinists for a high-mix, low-volume precision shop supporting aerospace and semiconductor manufacturing. Expect highly complex prints, unproven prototype setups, and tight tolerances on large-format materials where details matter—because these parts go into mission-critical systems tied to national security, not consumer products.

Machinists here don’t just run parts—they own the entire manufacturing process. You’ll take complex parts end-to-end: from blueprint interpretation and multi-axis setup through first article validation and final inspection. Applying GD&T, building advanced workholding strategies, managing tool clearances for 5-axis motion, and collaborating directly with engineers on design modifications are everyday expectations. We value highly skilled machinists who bring exceptional fundamentals, think clearly under pressure, and take absolute pride in clean, repeatable work.

If you want a shop where your high-level skill, spatial judgment, and 5-axis expertise truly matter—let’s talk.

Compensation

  • $36 - $42 / hour base

Shifts

  • 1st Shift
  • Monday - Friday

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with match
  • PTO

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate large-format 5-axis CNC milling centers in a precision, prototype, and job-shop environment.
  • Run complex work end-to-end: from blueprint interpretation and setup, to first article prove-out, validation, and final run.
  • Interpret highly complex blueprints, routings, and engineering models, applying advanced GD&T to ensure parts meet critical functional requirements.
  • Select tooling and build effective workholding strategies, paying strict attention to 5-axis machine kinematics, tool clearances, and collision avoidance.
  • Collaborate with engineering in the design, development, and evaluation of new products, recommending manufacturing modifications to improve part manufacturability.
  • Set up high-complexity, unproven parts as well as experimental prototypes, dialing in the process efficiently.
  • Read, write, and confidently edit CNC programs (feeds/speeds, multi-axis offsets, tool comp, and G/M-code edits) to maintain quality and throughput.
  • Perform rigorous in-process and final inspections using micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments, taking absolute ownership of part quality.
  • Document manufactured quantities and process adjustments accurately utilizing the ERP system.

Technical

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision environment, with direct experience on 5-axis mills and large-format machinery.
  • Strong ability to set up complex jobs completely independently (tooling, multi-axis offsets, advanced workholding, first article prove-out).
  • High-level confidence reading and interpreting complex blueprints and applying GD&T.
  • Proven experience holding tight tolerances on complex geometries and verifying them with manual inspection tools.
  • Fluency in reading and writing G/M-code and making practical adjustments at the control to optimize processes.
  • Solid machining fundamentals: speeds/feeds, tool selection, chip control, and tool wear management on advanced aerospace alloys.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot dimensional or tooling issues on the fly.

Cultural We’re looking for people who want more than a job—they want to build a career in aerospace and defense. You’ll do well here if you’re:

  • Coach-able: open to feedback, hungry to improve, and humble enough to keep learning.
  • Ownership-driven: you take responsibility for the work from print to final part, and you don’t pass problems downstream.
  • Craftsmanship-minded: you care about doing it right, even when no one is watching.
  • Team-oriented: you communicate clearly, assist engineers effectively, and elevate the machinists around you.
  • Growth-minded: you thrive on developing deeper capabilities over time—harder setups, tighter tolerances, more complex 5-axis work.
