POSITION SUMMARY:

The Peri-Anesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention, pain injections, and diagnostic procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides assessment, patient surveillance and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of any medical or surgical complication that may arise. The Peri-Anesthesia RN determines that the patient is suitable for discharge; and provides patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the post op instructions. The Peri-Anesthesia RN also calls the patient on the first working post op day to check on post op progress.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Â
- A graduation certificate from an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program, requiredÂ
- Current MS state licensure, requiredÂ
- ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications, required
- Experience in peri-anesthesia or critical care area, preferred
- Certificate of course completion in Moderate Sedation, required
