About the role

The Patient Access Director is an administration leader who is responsible for implementing the organizational and the departmental mission, vision, and goals. The role is responsible for supervising Patient Access staff in the Registration and Financial Clearance areas. Then Patient Access Director maintains efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and admitting process of individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing or procedures. In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring pre-registration of patients and financial clearance of hospital based services. The Patient Access Director assures compliance with all rules and regulations/policies and procedures applicable to areas of responsibility. The Patient Access Director schedules and facilitates mandatory monthly staff meetings, in-services and continuing education sessions. The Patient Access Director is expected to take personal responsibility to stay abreast of current policies and procedures, as well as maintains proficiency in all Patient Access technologies, while providing excellent service at all times.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Four year degree from baccalaureate program preferred.
  • Minimum two to three years’ experience in a supervisory or management position preferred.
  • Experience with Windows application systems.
  • Previous experience in health care setting preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent public relations skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively calm patients and be able to deal with distressed and/or agitated patients.
  • Medical terminology and health insurance background preferred.
