As a member of a leading food and beverage corporation, you will play an integral role in shaping product development and promoting healthier choices for consumers worldwide.


The Flavor and Taste Technology division at PepsiCo plays a critical role in advancing the company’s product innovation, sugar reduction initiatives, and development strategies. This team is tasked with leading efforts to drive innovation and sugar reduction across numerous billion-dollar beverage brands. Comprised of Flavor Technologists, Sweetener Technologists, and Flavorists, the group is dedicated to achieving objectives for both global and regional beverage portfolios


Responsibilities

  • Lead global and regional projects to drive the development, application, and commercialization of taste modification technology in support of Pepsi’s global beverage business growth.
  • Lead Flavor Technology function to maintain a competitive edge for Pepsi by developing breakthrough technology flavors to enable great-tasting naturally and/or artificially sweetened reduced calorie, low, and no-calorie products.
  • Interface and build strategic networks and effective working relationships with vendors.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to other functional groups within the company such as Quality, Commercialization Engineers, Product Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sensory and Regulatory
  • Role model for teamwork, building relationships within the Taste Technology Team and across all partners

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $123,500 - $206,750.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S. PhD in Chemistry, Food Science or related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of experience working with flavor raw materials, ingredients and creating flavors in the flavor and food industry
  • Certified Flavor Chemist preferred
  • A proven track record in flavor development and hands-on bench capability
  • Successful creation and commercialization of flavors: extracts, emulsions and blends; In depth knowledge of essential oils and Nat. and Art. Raw materials
  • Outstanding teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States

Critical Competencies

  • Possess a strong technical and creative background in flavor creation and technology, with a proven record of successful flavor development, commercialization, and hands-on bench experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in flavor development including the design and optimization of flavor systems to enhance or improve taste. Proficient in utilizing taste modification tools, considering aspects such as performance, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Results-driven professional adept at managing, balancing, and prioritizing multiple project initiatives to fulfill business objectives. Contribute to and support a technically innovative and creative environment aimed at strengthening PepsiCo’s competitive advantage.
  • Experienced in collaborating within multifunctional teams that explore diverse technological pathways. Serve as a role model for teamwork by fostering relationships within the Taste Technology Team and across all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the implications of flavor design on entire systems, consistently integrating quality principles into work processes and outputs to advance development initiatives with a holistic approach.
  • Highly motivated individual with the capacity to work independently. Skilled in organization, project management, and leadership, complemented by strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment and maintenance of cross-functional professional relationships both internally and externally. Commitment to safety awareness as an essential aspect of employment.
