Overview

The Bisserier Laboratory at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY is currently seeking a Full-time Laboratory Assistant. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in cellular and molecular biology. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will various laboratory techniques, including cell culture using human pulmonary vascular cells. pharmacological treatments, proliferation/apoptosis assays, immunoblotting. qRT-PCR, staining. in-vivo models of the disease, and various bioinformatic tools to analyze new data. The ideal candidate should excel in a collaborative team environment while also demonstrating strong self-motivation and determination.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal investigator with experimental design, execution, data collection, and interpretation
  • Assist with laboratory staff training and oversee students performing procedures and experiments
  • Maintain laboratory records and inventory for long-term sample storage
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and day-to-day lab budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines

Qualifications

Education requirement: Master’s degree in the field of Life Sciences or related fieldOther skills/requirements:

  • Highly motivated, skilled, and dynamic individual.
  • Good organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for quick learning and multi-tasking is critical.
  • Previous experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic techniques, and other laboratory techniques will be appreciated, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, good laboratory practices, and procedures.

Physical demands: Ability to life and carry up to 10 lbs unassisted. Stationary position (setting or standing) up to 75% of the time.

USD $30,940.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $37,310.00/Yr.
