JANITOR

Schedule: 2:00PM-10:30PM

Position Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and sanitary environment throughout the caffe and designated work areas. This position supports daily operations by ensuring that guest areas, restrooms, back-of-house areas, and other assigned spaces meet Urth Caffé’s cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dining areas, restrooms, kitchens, service areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the caffe.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain proper disposal procedures.
• Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces, tables, counters, doors, and other common areas.
• Restock restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of employee areas and designated storage spaces.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals according to company procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to the Manager.
• Assist with deep-cleaning projects and other cleaning assignments as directed.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in a clean, organized, and secure condition.
• Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and company policies and procedures.
• Support the caffe team with additional cleaning and housekeeping duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial, housekeeping, restaurant, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform physical cleaning activities for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Professional and respectful communication with managers, team members, and guests.

Work Environment

This position works in a fast-paced caffe environment and may be exposed to water, cleaning chemicals, food-service equipment, heat, noise, and wet floors. Proper safety procedures and required protective equipment must be followed at all times.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform routine cleaning activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
