Job Summary

Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) provide compassionate, structured, and vigilant care to children and adolescents in treatment. BHTs supervise patients at all times to ensure safety, meet basic needs, and strengthen treatment outcomes.

You will guide youth through daily living skills, responsibilities, and structured activities by modeling positive behavior and effective problem-solving. When behaviors escalate, you will act quickly and confidently to de-escalate situations and provide crisis intervention using approved tools and techniques.

This role requires professionalism, emotional resilience, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to helping young people build stronger futures.

Job Requirements

Minimum Age
All employees must be at least 20 years of age.

Education
High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Licensure/Certification
Valid, unencumbered Driver’s License and current auto insurance (must remain current at all times).

Experience and Skills

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training in a related field

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in high-stress situations

Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities may evolve based on staff qualifications and program development.

  • Demonstrate respect toward colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or ethnicity.

  • Treat youth as individuals, in alignment with their treatment plans.

  • Review client case histories and implement interventions outlined in treatment plans.

  • Collaborate closely with the Treatment Team to provide the highest standard of care.

  • Serve as a professional role model—calm, respectful, and consistent at all times.

  • Provide crisis intervention and behavioral de-escalation using approved methods.

  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including reports, phone calls, visit summaries, and required forms.

  • Facilitate structured group activities, using poor choices as teachable moments to promote accountability and growth.

  • Teach and reinforce responsible behavior and daily living skills.

  • Create and maintain safe, secure, structured, and nurturing environments.

  • Assist with meal preparation, laundry, and transportation to appointments and visits as directed.

  • Attend meetings, mandated trainings, and shift turnover meetings.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and training requirements.
