Build your career at DeSilva Gates Construction, where you’ll be part of a team delivering major infrastructure projects across Northern California.  We are seeking a dependable and safety-driven Class A Delivery Driver to join our team out of the Hayward Shop.  This position offers a dynamic mix of local routes operating both Class A commercial vehicles and standard company vehicles.  In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our operations across jobsites and facilities.  If you take pride in reliability, safety and being a team player, this is an opportunity to build a rewarding career.

 

Responsibilities 

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • Provide reliable delivery of materials between company offices, jobsites and suppliers by following written and routine delivery instructions.
  • Operate company vehicles safely, including operation of Class A commercial vehicles to transport materials and equipment.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations and company safety standards at all times.
  • Load, secure, transport and unload materials in a safe and timely manner.
  • Take delivery orders over the phone or through text message. 
  • Work efficiently to meet delivery schedules and project timelines.
  • Follow direction and complete tasks with minimal supervision. 
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, management and suppliers. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience, Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
  • Towing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles (truck, van and Class A vehicles) for extended periods in varying conditions.
  • Strong understanding of safe driving practices and applicable DOT regulations.
  • Clear, respectful and effective communication/interactions with internal and external personnel.
  • Proficient with smartphone, GPS systems and map applications; ability to plan efficient routes.  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.

Additional Requirements 

  • Required to possess and maintain valid, clean Class A California Driver’s License. 
  • Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.  
  • If needed, available for overtime on weekdays and weekends. 
  • Physical requirements: Lift and carry minimum 50 pounds, standing, driving for long periods of time.
