The Manufacturing Engineer I will have a multi-functional roll to support development, design, and implementation of Therm-x's vertically integrated heater factories.

Duties Include but not limited to;

  • Mechanical design for tooling and automation
  • Torch and Induction braze qualifications per applicable codes
  • Supports manufacturing process documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement
  • Supports lean manufacturing process improvement projects
  • Support design of custom packaging.
  • Support manufacturing and coordination, execution and operations process development
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required
  • Understands 6 sigma principles and has experience utilizing statistical analysis software (JMP, MiniTab)
  • Develop efficient lean manufacturing processes with an emphasis on quality and efficiency.
  • Evaluate production and NPI parts with DFM in mind by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, soliciting observations from operators
  • Specify tooling or equipment required to manufacture product per customer requirements within budgeted cost and lead time
  • Provide technical assistance on projects supporting the manufacturing divisions.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and contract manufacturers as needed
  • Spend time observing and gathering feedback how current processes are working and report back to management findings.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project)
  • Expert skills with 3D design packages such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of torch and induction brazing with experience qualifying braze joints per applicable codes such as AWS B1.2.
  • Strong skills in GD&T per ANSI Y14.5
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Read bill of materials and identify all components specified
  • Self-motivated, requiring minimum supervision
  • Over 2 years of experience in low volume high mix manufacturing environment

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Materials, Mechanical, Aerospace or Joining Engineering with 2+ years of experience. BS Industrial, Manufacturing, or equivalent

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
