Overview
The Interventional Radiologic Technologist at Appalachian Regional Healthcare – Hazard provides advanced imaging support for minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting physicians during interventional procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and adherence to ARH policies and regulatory standards.Â
Special Instructions
Interventional Radiologic Technologist (One year IR experience required)Responsibilities
-  Perform interventional radiology procedures utilizing fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and ultrasound guidanceÂ
- Assistradiologists and interventional physicians during vascular and non-vascular proceduresÂ
- Prepare interventional suites, including equipment setup, sterile trays, contrast media, and supplies
- Maintainstrict sterile technique and follow ARH infection prevention policiesÂ
- Position patients appropriately andoperateimaging equipment to achieve optimal image qualityÂ
- Monitorpatients throughout procedures, recognizing and reporting changes in patient conditionÂ
- Administer contrast agents per ARH protocols andmonitorfor adverse reactionsÂ
- Accurately document procedures, radiation dose metrics, contrast usage, and patient care in the electronic medical record
- Practice radiation safetyin accordance withALARA principles and Kentucky state regulationsÂ
- Ensure proper operation and troubleshooting of interventional imaging equipment
- Participatein on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredÂ
- Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintaincompliance with DNV, ARH policies, and federal/state regulationsÂ

- Diagnostic angiography
- Peripheral and visceral vascular interventions
- PICC line, port, and central line placements
- Thrombectomy and thrombolysis
- Biopsies and drain placements
- Embolization procedures
- IVC filter placement and retrieval
- Dialysis access procedures
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degreeor higher in Radiologic TechnologyÂ
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program

Licensure & Certifications:Â
- ARRT certification in Radiography (R)required
- ARRT Advanced Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) preferred
- Current Kentucky state radiologic license
- BLSrequired; ACLS preferred
